Engineering Plant Reaches Asbestos Claims Settlement"

A U.S. district court has given the Swiss-Swedish engineering company
that approval for a $1.3 billion settlement of its asbestos claims.
The company has over 100,000 asbestos related illness claims, including
various cancer forms (such as mesothelioma, a rare and deadly disease),
as well as other life-threatening diseases. Criticisms of settlement
funds created for asbestos related illnesses have been numerous
because some people think a lump sum will not be adequate enough
to cover deadly illnesses, especially with the high number of claimants.
An asbestos lawyer has said an appeal of the ruling is in the future.
